We started off our 2017 dance season in February with South Surrey’s Dance Effect (a thank you to Nathalie Heath and her amazing staff for the opportunity to work with them again this year!). I always love working with their very talented competitive dancers.

We are now in full swing of our 2017 photography dance season, and are thrilled to welcome more schools to our list! we love all of our dance schools and talented dancers. Did you know that we photograph for many dance school photo days all over the lower mainland? From our very own backyard in South Surrey, to dance schools in Vancouver, Richmond, Coquitlam North Van, and more! We are proud to have been with several of them for a long time – almost 10 years – and it’s been great pleasure to watch all their dancers grow! Its tough to see dancers graduate, but its always so exciting to see them move on to other companies and productions!

What do you do, when one of your assistants is also a talented ballerina? Ballet photos of course! Some days you just have to get into the studio and do something creative, and I’m lucky to have so many talented dancers in my life. We had so much fun with this session, and she did an amazing job working with my various maternity gowns from Sew Trendy Accessories, and our beautiful maternity tutu. Meghann dances at Richmond Academy of Dance, and we met when she was just a little girl! It’s been awesome to watch her grow up, and become such a beautiful talented young woman. Many of my clients will recognize her as my toddler whisperer. She’s talented and great with little ones! She’s a valuable asset to Gemini Visuals.

I am a strong supporter of my community, and creating relationships with other businesses has always been important to me. So last year I paired with Not For Long Consignment boutique in Ocean Park for a maternity give away. I couldn’t have picked a more gorgeous mama for a maternity photo session!

She was thrilled to model some of my new maternity gowns from Sew Trendy Accessories, and we had a beautiful summer day at Elgin Heritage park. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect setting, with the perfect couple! They were great fun to work with, and I was so happy to capture some stunning maternity photos for them. I look forward to long evenings and warm days for more fun pregnancy photo sessions!

It’s always an honour when clients return with their next baby for their newborn photos. I met this family a couple years ago for their first child’s maternity and newborn photos. I saw them again for some holiday minis and was excited to hear they had welcomed a new baby boy! Although he fought hard to stay awake for his session, we captured some great photos of this handsome newborn. And with a little work managed to finally get him to sleep. His big sister did great for some sibling photos, you never know what you will get with young siblings!

We love getting to watch little ones grow over their first year with our milestone packages. We offer multiple different baby’s first year photo packages to capture all of baby’s first important moments. She has changed so much since her newborn photos (check out my previous blog post for her 6 month session)! I loved her pink and blue theme for her cake smash session and it was another beautiful and tasty cake from Leah’s Cake Creations!

We welcomed back one of our Baby’s First Year package clients for her 6 month photo session. In order to make it an outdoor session she was a little older then 6 months. We had a gorgeous sunny day at Elgin Heritage Park in South Surrey for this photo session. We were able to capture some beautiful family photos as well as just baby alone, in both her own outfits and some of ours. Love doing outdoor photo sessions and bringing along some props and furniture from the studio for them. We look forward to seeing this family again for baby’s 1 year session!

I had the pleasure of working with these kids for our annual holiday mini sessions back in November. I was excited when they booked a double package for our Spring Mini Special. We offer Spring and Fall outdoor mini photo sessions. Our sessions are fully private, as we book them on a day that works for the client, not all in one day, which gives us more options for locations.

This large family group really wanted a barn in the background, so Stewart Farm in South Surrey was the perfect setting for these family photos! The kids didn’t overly want to cooperate, but I think we still got some great family photos, and even better candid, fun photos! We are so happy that we captured these memories for this family. Our thoughts are with them, as they recently lost one of their family members. It was an honour to have met and worked with them, and we are sad for their loss.

I’ve been a photographer for over 20 years, but photography has changed dramatically over time. It’s important to me to continue to explore new techniques and improve my style and work. So when the opportunity arose to host a workshop for the very talented Eden Bao Photography, I jumped at the chance to work with such an accomplished photographer. Part of the workshop was focused on maternity sessions.

We spent the evening at Stewart Farmhouse in South Surrey, photographing a couple of maternity models outdoors. This beauty and her family was our first outdoor model. I enjoyed working with this gorgeous family and jumped at the chance to shoot during golden hour with this stunning mom. It was a fantastic weekend of learning, working with fabulous models and meeting other talented photographers!

We started this family’s photo session at Blackie Spit Park in South Surrey, but decided the cake smash portion of the shoot was better indoors. With twins you never really know what you’ll get, but these two were awesome! Mom wanted a simple set up, gender neutral to suit this brother and sister duo.

The outdoor photos were fun, but it was the cake smash portion that was a blast! We had another beautiful cake from Leah’s Cake Creations. It’s fun to see how boys and girls differ in sessions, and these two twins were totally opposite. While brother thoroughly enjoyed eating the cake, the sister had far more fun smooshing and destroying it! We ended the session with their big brother jumping in to help finish the cake off which he loved! Who wouldn’t love chocolate cake your siblings have mangled.. I love twin cake smash sessions, and its even more fun when the other siblings get a chance at the cake.

This family is always full of character. I had the pleasure of photographing both their children’s newborn photos, and they’ve returned each year for my annual Christmas mini sessions. They are always full of great faces, even when this little man was teething like crazy! It was awesome to be able to do an outdoor family session for them at Blackie Spit Park in Surrey BC. We had a beautiful spring BC day, to capture these fantastic family keepsakes! This lovely lady is also my chiropractor at Sequoia Wellness Collective in South Surrey. I’m always happy to see her!
