Taking photos of expectant moms for their maternity sessions has become a favourite thing of mine to photograph. Often times, I will see the new parents again with their baby for a newborn session. For the 20+ years that I have been doing photography, maternity sessions and newborn photos have continued to grow in popularity. Finding gorgeous props, dresses, and clients being open to more creative ideas have become the norm. Outdoor maternity sessions have become much more common, and these allow the photographer to be creative with the set, props, and use the available outdoor light – and it can be done in any season!

Outdoor maternity can be done during the Winter, Summer, Spring or Fall. Depending on your due date, we can photograph you in any season, preferably at around the 32-week mark. That way, you are still able to move around reasonably well, and stand for longer periods during your photos. However, we can discuss any ideas that you may have for your vision of your upcoming maternity session.
*Note: Until March 31st 2020, we are offering a special Maternity Session which includes some in-studio photos and some outdoors for no additional cost. Some restrictions regarding location (close to our studio and must be done all in the same day). Contact our studio to book.
Outdoor maternity can offer more variety than studio shots, as sometimes the location can help dictate the vision and creative of the photo session. We have a vast collection of maternity dresses and wardrobe from Sew Trendy Accessories, in a variety of colours. We are able to fit almost all sizes, so whatever ideas you may have, we are open to collaborating!
As part of the package, we are able to do a variety of poses and outfit changes during your outdoor maternity session. A great tip for any clients is to consider what colours you want to wear, and to try to coordinate them with your partner ahead of time (if your partner will be a part of the photo shoot). We have a large collection of dresses and can work with you ahead of time to make some choices before we get to the photo location. Our collection of dresses from Sew-Trendy Accessories have been favourites of our clients that are interested in a glamourous and gorgeous outdoor maternity session.
